The Complete Works of H. P. Lovecraft

As the centerpiece of this project, I wanted to read Lovecraft’s solo fiction in chronological order, in order to gain an appreciation of his development as a writer, and his use of cosmic horror in particular. Because he was such a prolific ghostwriter, his collaborations were a natural next step. And, while poetry is generally outside the scope of this project, enough of HPL’s poems deal with cosmic dread to warrant including a short collection here. Finally, it seemed appropriate to end on the long essay Supernatural Horror in Literature, which not only provides insight into HPL’s views on horror generally, but serves as a good introduction into the works of other weird/horror writers of the time.
